The Virtual Health Library (VHL) was established in 1998 as a model, strategy and operational platform for technical cooperation of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) for health information and knowledge management in the Latin American and Caribbean Region (LAC).

In Colombia, the Fundación Universitaria de Ciencias de la Salud - FUCS, has been elected as Coordinator of the Virtual Health Library in Colombia (VHL Colombia), for the period 2016-2019, leading the management of the country's scientific information system.
