Mental health care in first responders

Ongoing training and capacity-building actions for human talent, as well as for the care, self-care and protection of personnel working with migrants. Professionals who provide assistance services in humanitarian crisis situations are at high risk of becoming emotionally affected.

It is essential to plan and include a permanent program of psychological support and self-help groups among peers with the active participation of leaders and health teams to prevent burnout, emotional exhaustion due to empathy and the promotion of self-care and care of work groups.
